Registered Dietitians are responsible and accountable for their continuing competence in order to provide safe, ethical professional services. The continuing competence program (CCP) is a systematic process for dietitians to reflect on their practice, set learning goals and document participation in and impact of professional learning activities on dietetic competence. Because participation in the CCP is mandatory, the public can trust that dietitians are committed to maintaining their personal competence and that they take this obligation seriously.
The CCP includes annual self-assessment, development of a learning plan and a report on the implementation of your learning plan and its impact on your practice at the end of the licensing year. Registered Dietitians are responsible and accountable for their continuing competence in order to provide safe, ethical professional services. SCD’s continuing competence program (CCP) is mandatory and is designed to provide a systematic process for dietitians to reflect on their practice, set learning goals and document participation in professional learning activities.
The continuing competence program is an annual opportunity for dietitians to reflect on their practice and take action to improve continually and to stay competent. A random audit of 5% of licensed members annually provides further quality assurance that the continuing competence program is being used as it was designed.
